Having difficulties (mainly changing light sources) but I think I can get it.

Done in one hour looking into a mirror. Might actually go back into this one some more.

Superjail...cartoon excellence.

If you watch Superjail and are able to get past all of the violence, insanity, and incomprehensible trippiness of the storyline...the animation is really quite impressive. The characters defy all notion of "on model" from scene to scene and just revel in balls to the wall craziness -- while saying true to the princesses (or princaples) of animation.

I mean, really. If you're into animation or cartoons...or even art in general, you are really doing yourself a disservice by not appreciating how much the animators quite obviously, from shot to shot, revel in the world of playful, obscene craziness. I tip my hat to you guys.

Thats not to say the show is without stylistic problems...sometimes the compositions are amateurish and animation crude. But damn I feel the need to celebrate the freedom of it all.

HATEFARM

Hatefarm is on a hiatus till we get the new website and I am not so freaking busy with making cartoons at work. When it comes back though, I'm switching from Flash to Photoshop. I did this in about half the time it would have taken me in Flash. Comics were taking much too long. Also, going for a bit more of a cartoony feel...I think it's for the better. Do you?

My 2nd painting

Kind of feel like I'm polishing a turd beyond this point -- this was my attempt at using my own colors...which obviously didn't work as well as borrowing colors from a photograph, but I learned a lot.

I was trying to give her a wider jaw and caricature her...give her smaller eyes and nose...shy away from realism...in the final thing the "caricatured' feel definitely got lost.

I saw some people the other day. Said people were all like... HAY ERIC YOU GAVE UP ON HATEFARM PRETTY QUICK and I'm all like NO SIR OR MADAM I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THE COOLEST CARTOON SHORT YOU HAVE EVER SEEN AND IT HAS BEEN ABSORBING ALL OF MY TIME.
